Did you just welcome a new little one to your family? Are you expecting a baby or in the process of adoption?
We are pleased to help you prepare for your child’s baptism!
Baptisms take place during mass on the third full weekend of each month. We are currently limited to two families at a mass time in order to follow social distancing measures. Private baptisms may be an option for families with health concerns or special circumstances.
Upcoming Baptism weekends in 2021 are:
May 15 & 16
May 29 & 30
June 19 & 20
July 17 & 18
Aug 21 & 22
Sept 18 & 19
Oct 16 & 17
Nov 20 & 21
Here is some basic information about celebrating baptism at St. James…
- Parents should be registered members of St. James.
- First-time parents and those new to St. James are required to participate in a pre-baptism class that discusses the tradition & symbols of the sacrament and the parental duty to raise their child in the practice of the faith, as well as the actual rite of baptism.
- Pre-baptism classes are offered on the first Tuesday evening of the month at 6pm and meet in the Great Room in church. Upcoming class dates are June 1st, July 6th, Aug 3rd, Sept 7th, Oct 5th and Nov 2nd.
- Preparation classes are NOT required for parents who have already baptized a child at St. James. However, parents are always welcome to join us for a refresher!
