St. James offers several ways to share your gift of music.
Adult Choir:
Please consider sharing your time and talent with us this season. You do not need any prior choral experience and there is no audition required.
The St. James adult choir rehearses on Thursday evenings 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm, September through Pentecost. This year our 1st rehearsal is scheduled for September 4, 2025.
The full Adult Choir sings at one of our weekend Masses two or three weekends a month. Generally, we rotate through the Mass schedule: 4:30 pm one week, 8:15 am or 10:30 am the next.
On weekends when the full Choir is not scheduled, singers are free to support the Assembly’s song as small vocal ensembles from the choir area or sit with family and friends in the pews.
Singers interested in joining our Adult Choir are welcomed to observe or participate in a rehearsal before making a commitment.
Energize your faith through singing and friendship!
Cantor:
The ministry of Cantor is open to high school students and Adults. This is our most flexible music ministry – rehearsal time is scheduled directly with the Director of Liturgy and Music as needed. Typically a cantor is scheduled to minister at one of the weekend Masses monthly. A brief meeting with Bill Lieven, Director of Music and Liturgy is required for participation as a cantor at St. James. Please contact Bill Lieven to become involved in this ministry wlieven@stjames-parish.com or call 262-253-2225.
Instrumentalist:
We welcome all instrumental accompaniments at our Masses; guitar, percussion, solo instruments etc. Instrumentalists are free to offer their gifts at any of our weekend Masses on a regular basis or occasionally.
Resurrection Choir:
The St. James Resurrection choir is our group of singers that offers the gifts of music and support at parish funerals. There are no requirements for this group, but availability during the day is essential as our funerals are typically scheduled for late mornings. Members are notified by phone that a funeral has been scheduled at our parish. We understand attendance at every funeral is not possible but families who have lost a loved one are truly grateful for anytime you could share in this ministry.
Seasonal Children’s Choir:
This year we will explore the possibility of a seasonal Children’s Choir. The St. James Children’s Choir would be open to any child in grades 3-6. Rehearsals are tentatively planned for late Wednesday afternoons weekly, November through December. The Children’s Choir will sing at some of our Weekend Masses through Advent and the Christmas Seasons.
To get involved in any of these ministries or for additional information please reach out to Bill Lieven at wlieven@stjames-parish.com or call 262-253-2225, he would love to hear from you.
